Regional Expenditure

Regional Expenditure uses a model based approach to allocate international and domestic visitor expenditure to Australian tourism regions. The International Visitor Survey and National Visitor Survey collect information on visitor travel activity and expenditure. However, information on expenditure is collected by both surveys for the entire trip only and not for individual stops.

In order to determine the impact that the visitor activity is having on a particular region, the Regional Expenditure model allocates visitor expenditure to specific tourism regions.   To view a copy of the various reports, please click here.
