Artwalk is an annual event held in Port Macquarie, Australia, that celebrates the town's vibrant art scene. The event brings together local artists and art enthusiasts for a night of exploring, discovering, and experiencing art in all its forms.

During ArtWalk, the streets of Port Macquarie come alive with a variety of artworks displayed in galleries, shops, and public spaces. Visitors can enjoy a diverse range of art, including painting, sculpture, photography, live performances, exhibitions, illuminations, artist markets, creative installations, and more. They can also interact with artists, attend workshops and talks, and participate in various art-related activities.

This year, Artwalk will offer an ‘Out of the World’ experience across nine precincts. Why not plan your ArtWalk experience using FREE guides where you be able to see detailed information of artists, installations and performers across all of precincts.

Precinct 1 - Town Green West
Enjoy live performances on the Main Stage from 5pm. Dive into HEXADECA, capture a selfie under the fig tree or jump on board the ArtWalk Party Bus in Short Street.

Precinct 2 - Lady Nelson Wharf
Snap a pic with the ARTWALK light-up letters. Enjoy roving performers and The Rhythm Realm Drummers.

Precinct 3 - Town Square
Capture amazing ArtWalk moments at the Optus marquee and join interactive art sessions, visit artisan markets, ArtBites food trucks, live buskers, and performers.

Precinct 4 - Town Green East
Step into the future with Stargate, an awe-inspiring cosmic portal, glowing and inviting you to step inside. See drumline performance, silent discos, fire shows, and more.

Precinct 5 – Hay Street Forecourt, Historic Courthouse & Museum
Light-up disco floor and view ‘Out of This World’ dance performances. Art, fashion shows, sculptures, and interactive drawing stations at the Historic Courthouse and explore art displays at the museum.

Precinct 6 – Clarence Street & Fisherman’s Wharf
Circus performers on Clarence Street near Fisherman’s Wharf and enjoy funky saxophone tunes and more performances along Fisherman’s Wharf.

Precinct 7 – Clarence House & Murray Street Carpark
There are interactive projections throughout Murray Street, creative installations and pop-up artist-hosted spaces. ‘Sandimation’ is back again at 5.30pm, 6.45pm, and 8.00pm. Food trucks, projections and art are hosted by businesses nearby.

Precinct 8 – The Youth Precinct, Phillips Lane - new for 2025!
Newly revitalised Phillips Lane is bursting with vibrant murals, glowing festoon lights and artisan offerings. The Cage kicks off the night with live music and take part in live graffiti painting and Charles Sturt University’s ‘Simbulance’.

Precinct 9 – The Glasshouse
The Glasshouse transforms into a glowing spaceship with dazzling lights and interactive installations. Enjoy an Artdrink and a groove at the Live Jazz Bar and explore surreal photography and multi-media exhibitions

Take the time to explore many of the local businesses that are hosting artists in and around the CBD.

Step beyond the CBD and discover ArtWalk in displays at St Thomas’ Church and St Agnes’ Church on Hay Street - brought to life through Council’s Community Grants.

Saturday 5 July, Stargate and HEXADECA installations will remain onsite and lookout for Busk@Dusk performances from 2pm-5pm.

Plan Your Trip

Whether you’re visiting Port Macquarie for the event, or you’re a local coming out for the night to experience Port Macquarie’s diverse art scene, it’s important you plan your trip to ArtWalk to make sure you make the most of the event and enjoy the experience without any hiccups.

ArtWalk is a full night of art, music, displays and installations and exhibitions. For the full experience, you will need to 3-4 hours.

The night begins at 5pm and finishes at 9pm.

Most local restaurants are open, but bookings are essential. You can also plan dinner at one of our many food stalls and food trucks, which will be open from 5:00pm onwards, and don’t require a booking.

A courtesy shuttle bus service into the Port CBD will pick up and drop off from Westport Marina (bus stop outside Little Turkey) between 4:30pm - 9:30pm. Buses are accessible and will run on a loop. Bus stops in the CBD will be at Short Street (outside Centrelink) and Clarence Street (outside The Macquarie Hotel).
